Karen Zupanic's family has a rich history of art, spanning many generations. The faience artwork of her great-grandfather, Johann Jakob Frey, is in the Museum Burghalde in Lenzburg, Switzerland (https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-au/experiences/museum-burghalde/) and the artwork of her grandfather, H. Frey (former Head of the Art Department at Sandia Labs) is showcased in New Mexico. Her mother, brother, and uncle are also artists.
